These weird-but-beautiful GIFs (and the ones below) come from General Electric's new Revolution CT scanner. X-ray computer tomography produces cross section x-rays of the body and puts them together into 3D images-- usually to look for tumors, bone fractures, tissue death, and bleeding. And unlike MRIs, CT scans are safe for patients with metal bits (like pacemakers and artificial joints) inside them.
